I have been trying to clean out my studio of older works, so Susan Schaefer and I are planning on setting up my big white tent outside "The studio in Qualicum Bay" 5320 West Island Hwy and having an outdoor sale. August 6th and 7th, 11-4. Lets hope the weather is nice!

Grande Prix d'art
This saturday I will be attending the Qualicum Grande Prix d'Art. I have always been too afraid to be in front of everyone painting, but this year I decided to go for it. I will be bringing my watercolors and ink. They are relaxing and fun and will not allow me to be too terribly serious! I am not there for the competitive part of the event, but for the exposure and the fun. (hopefully sun exposure!!!)

Hope to see you there!

Saturday, July 23 · 10:00am - 3:00pm

No rain today
Just when I had decided that I was going to take up ink and watercolor outdoors, we had nothing but rain. Seems like there is no rain today, but I am not taking any chances and have been painting inside the studio where its safe. I think I am going to start another studio page on this website for my ink and watercolors. I really enjoy them as they are spontaneous and relaxing. I received a call from a group of people over from vancouver the other day and I took them out to Brickyard Bay on a "sketching tour". I had a lot of fun and I think that they did too. Each person finished two small ink and watercolor sketches. And the rain held off till later on in the day!

I have been working on some little paintings of lighthouses. I have paintings in the "Salish Sea Market" in Bowser, and they have been asking me for lighthouses. I love how the red and white buildings jump out. I am enjoying these little paintings.

Well, Time to pack up and get going back home. I really should be weeding my garden.

Oh, and check out my CindyMawle contemporary artist public page, I am putting up all my sketches and info on there regularily.

My epiphany!
Epiphany:

According to the online Merriam Webster dictionary:

(1):usually sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something (2) : an intuitive grasp of reality through something (as an event) usually simple and striking (3) : an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure…

The other day while ordering my twice weekly latte, I stood there deciding what to have this time. Soy? Regular milk? Small or medium? vanilla shot? Half caf? Decaf? Regular caf? After making my decision I watched the barista create my choice and I asked her if most people have the same drink each time they come in. She said that most customers have their consistent orders. Hmmm…I thought.

So meanwhile, back at the studio while looking over my many paintings I had my epiphany! My acrylic paint is my "Latte" and the many styles and subjects are choice of the "day" depending on my mood!

It's who I am. I will have to think on that for a bit, and rather than attempt to be someone I am not, make it work for me.
