Last week I finally decided how I want to finish off my small resin pieces so I have been working hard to get the shadow box frames painted and crackled before the expo next weekend. I have had to fight with myself to keep with the same color scheme. I love the dark grey/black crackle. Very rustic. I told myself to "stay with what is working!" but somehow 3 green frames and a red one appeared in the mix. I Couldn't help myself. They do look nice though, and the resin pieces really showcase in all the colors.
I have 5 new paintings for the show that have not been seen before. I may even bring my easel and do some quick demos on site. I will have to see how much room I have in my little display space. Tomorrow I set up the display in the living room just to get the "feng shui" moving in the right direction!
Oh! And watch for the next issue of the Parksville/Qualicum Beach Oasis magazine. Someone might be in there....

I have 3 new pieces so far to put in the show, I posted a small "snippet" of each painting on my facebook page to keep the mystery going. I wont show them until the show. It will be their "debut" so to speak. I am also working on 3 others, but am not sure if I will have them done by next weekend.
I recently did up a little video demonstrating my quick and fun ink and watercolor technique. The video has a little twist though. I was working from the back of the paper and filming from the other side. It was something I had been thinking about for quite awhile but couldn't quite figure out how to do it. I figured it out more or less and had fun doing it. You can find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsLAd8KP9Dg .
I have recently had a giclee print/test run done of one of my newest paintings and I am really pleased with the results. I plan on doing up a size and price list and having the art printed in a limited quantity to order basis. I will have the print on display and for sale at the Island expo as well.
Enjoy these beautiful days of Fall! That is...if you can see anything through the fog encasing the westcoast.

I have been told unofficially that I have sold the painting "Calling Wisdom" at the Sidney Fine Art Show. I await for the notice to find out for real. I would have liked to have been at the show tonite for the artists evening but two trips down island for the show were the maximum I wanted to travel. I am not so comfortable driving at night either, so I decided to pass this year. So, if the purchaser of the painting is reading this, Please email me! I would love to hear from you. I always like to know where my paintings go and to be able to tell the story behind them. They all have a "life"story.
Until next time. :)

3 of my paintings have been juried into the Sidney Fine Art show. Over 900 pieces were brought in to be juried, with 385 accepted by 235 artists. I am thrilled! I love being a part of this art show despite the mileage I rack up on my vehicle. One of the three juried in:
I have to admit, this one is my favorite.
But then again...maybe this one is.... The show is at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney BC and runs from Oct 18-20. Check out their website www.sidneyfineartshow.ca for more information.
Island Expo is coming up fast! November 2nd - 3rd, 2013, 240 Lions Way
Qualicum Bay, BC. I will be there with some of my latest larger paintings as well as a good selection of matted and packaged affordable small plein air paintings and a few of my fun resin pieces I like to play with.
Come on by to say hi! I always really enjoy this fun event. Susan and Jeff do a great job of putting the show on...and its nice and close to home!
I have recently had 4 of my paintings showing in the Blackrock resort in Ucluelet to celebrate the Cultural Heritage Festival in the area. The art show I felt was a unique "cultural bridging" display. I was honored to be a part of the event and hope to see more of this in the future. Art is art, artists are artists no matter what our heritage is. We are driven to create what inspires us and what we love. It is meant to be celebrated by all.
While in Ucluelet I stayed in a yurt in the Wya point resort/ campground which is located on an old village site of the Ucluelet First Nation. All I can say is WOW. A good friend and I spent a whole day on the beach not wanting to go anywhere else. Here is my painting that came out of the experience. I was so inspired!!
I have updated my site with some more new pieces, they are in the westcoast gallery, figurative and portraits of nature. wow...I was way behind!
