I was asked to be a last minute participant in the Kitty Coleman Art and Bloom festival in north Courtenay this weekend. I have been so busy that I forgot to put in on my website!
Yesterday seemed fine to me but many said it was very slow for visitors. I dont really have anything to compare it to as I am usually in my studio alone. Seemed like alot of people stopping by my booth to me!
I am in the barn which is lovely except for the temperature. I am so glad I brought a blanket yesterday. Today I will not wear capris. Outside of the barn a sole musician played and he was so good! How wonderful, a straw floor, people quietly shuffling through and music wafting into the space. Quite a pleasant atmosphere.
The Woodland gardens is privately owned and a labour of love for sure. You can even bring your dogs for a stroll. They have some full bloom breathtaking rhodos and I must remember to bring my camera in hopes the sun will shed some indirect light on their beauty. A future painting? Perhaps.
Ok, I must get ready for the drive once again. Gas prices? ugh....I am trying to cut back....
Have a great long weekend!

The Central Island Studio tour is coming up this month on May 26th and 27th. https://www.centralislandartsguide.ca for more information.
I have decided to be a part of this studio tour this year and because I am so far out in the "boonies" I will have a few things going on to make it worth the drive!
First I am having a spring cleanup sale on all my older and experimental works of art. This will be a great time to find a smaller piece at a good price. I will also have a couple of larger works as well. See my Spring Cleanup Listings portfolio on this website for available work and pricing. The paintings will be on display during the tour but also will be available for sale ahead of time if you see something you just cant live without!
I will also be having a hands on table for visitors to try their skill at finding a unique pendant design. If they find a design they love I am able to put it into a sterling silver bezel and seal it with acrylic resin. Its such a fun thing to do and there will be no pressure to buy anything at all. Just come by and have some creative fun! (pendants with an 18" sterling silver chain $40)
On instagram I will be holding 3 contests in the 3 weeks leading up to the tour in which I will be giving away a pendant, a cedarwood painting and a barnwood painting. If you are on instagram you can find me @cmawle.
Thats about it for now! Hope to see you at the Studio Tour. :)
