May 13 2019
Lots coming up!

Thought it was time for a blog post now that I have a better idea of what I am doing in the upcoming months.

The Central Island Studio Tour 2019 will be held this month, May 24, 25 and 26th.   See 'centralislandartsguide.ca'  for information on all the artists involved, from Campbell River to Parksville.  I will be working in my studio during the tour (yay)  and will have my tent set up in the yard same as last year with some of my older paintings prices marked down half. I will have some brand new never exibited paintings in the studio; both Representational and Art Nouveau,  prints on board, and will be featuring my small 5x7 "a gift of original art for you" works that I have been selling on Etsy.  I plan to have a cedar board painting as a draw item and a pre-sign up list for fall art classes.  I will be coffeed up and ready to chat!

After the Originals Only art show was cancelled by the original organizer, a group of us artists decided to try to get something going.  The new "Island Originals" is now up and running after a slight delay and I will have my tent set up at that show!  I now have my 'art van" ready to insure for the summer, a 2006 grand caravan I purchased a few months ago so that I am able to fit my grid walls, tent and paintings into.  Last year I ended up with a tendon injury because of stepping up and down...and up and down....the ladder to put the grid walls on the roof of my mazda.  Not this year!  I am prepared.  Now...if only fuel prices would go down....

I also applied to Nautical Days this year.  This show is held the same weekend as the popular Filberg Festival in August and unlike Island Originals, it is a mixed show of artisans of all types. Perhaps I will spend more money than I will make.  That is...if I leave my booth.

Pondering entering the "Grand Prix d'art" in Qualicum this year, first I need to figure out if I can work one of my "art nouveau" works in the time allotted.  I have ordered some smaller canvases and will be testing that out before I go ahead and commit.
