I JUST finally entered all the “yes” to the mailing list emails onto my website from the May studio tour. Thanks and welcome! to those new people. If anyone has changed their mind just unsubscribe. No worries though, I rarely send out blog posts, I suspect I would fail computer marketing ‘101’. Thats ok, I have too much to do in the studio to spend that many hours on the computer. :) I am kinda old school like that.
I am back from my 3 week trip to Scotland and seemed to have contracted amnesia. It has taken me at least two weeks to remember everything I have to do. Next time I go on a long trip like that I will write a list to follow for when I get back. I am finally looking around and thinking “HOLY COW!” as things pop back into my head. I have lots coming up and plenty to do and the list is as follows:
I have had my painting “So Much to do on 2.5 Acres” juried into the 2019 Sooke Fine Arts Show held July 26th-Aug 5th. I have been busy painting small 4x12s on canvas, printing new art cards and creating Palette Pendants to sell at the gift shop during the show. It’s a wonderful show and will be inside the building my high school graduation was held so many moons ago!
I may go into the Grand Prix’d Art in Qualicum Beach on Saturday the 27th. It depends on the weather. Not only do I not do well standing in the heat of the sun but my acrylic paints do not co operate either. That one is up in the air still for me but I highly recommend coming into town and wandering around to see the artists working against the clock in their allotted locations.
August 3, 4 and 5th ,Nautical Days at the Comox marina Park. They tell me my tent site is on a slight slope. I have no idea what this means but I will find out. Packing shims with me. This free event is the same weekend as the Filberg Festival so pop by if you are in the area.
August 10 &11th Island Originals Fine Art Show and Sale, Comox Marina Park. They have managed to keep this show going this year after the past organizer stepped down. We decided to re brand the show to start it on a new foot. I loved this event last year, it was so wonderful to see people seriously looking for original artwork.
I will be putting my “new to me” 2006 Grand Caravan-art-mobile onto the road so that I can pack my grid walls, display tent, artwork and all the misc items that go with an outdoor show. Last year I hurt myself pretty good putting the grid walls onto the top of my mazda so decided NOT this year. Hoping gas prices go down though…The GC is not as good on fuel as my Mazda.
Crossing my fingers for good weather for both these events!
I will be putting together art class outlines by the end of July. I have tuesday afternoons booked at the Lighthouse community centre and have a list of names for people who are interested. Please email me to let me know if you would like to be put on this list. I will be teaching 3-3hr classes for each beginner session (3 weeks) and they will be based on my chosen reference. The experienced class will be less structured but too will be 3-3 hour sessions. As soon as I decide when beginner and experienced classes will be held I will put the notice out.
Last but not least I am putting together a solo show for The Old School House Art Centre for November of this year. I believe the name of the show will be “Rooted in Change” and will of course feature my trees. The name is not written in Stone but I think it fits my intention.
Ok! thanks for your time! I hope to see you at one of these events.
